middle school simple tools I saved up for an iPod touch that became a door to a world I never thought I'd know
suddenly once became every night for days weeks months
when I fought to end the trend I found myself addicted
ashamed uncertain afraid hiding away
Praise God for escape but the scars remained...
healing came bit by bit understanding sharing learning
seeing how every bit of what I did was one small part of what would later break my heart...
knowing my story was irrevocably connected with the slaves I now want to fight to free
Friends, I hope that if you have ever had an experience with pornography - in whatever capacity and whether willingly or not - I want you to know that I will always be open to talking about it with you. This is a topic very near to my heart. My own struggle left me feeling so ashamed, confused and isolated. I never want anyone to feel that way. Let's be real with each other. Also, if you don't believe pornography is a bad thing or think it has some good qualities - I would encourage you to have a conversation with me or to look at the Fight the New Drug website. This is an industry that perpetuates the exploitation of sex slaves. This is an industry that commodifies sex and objectifies real people. This is not a healthy way for anyone to learn about sex.
This may not be a popular opinion - I seriously want to have this conversation. If you agree, if you disagree, if you're unsure, if you're upset, if you're afraid - whatever it is, if you want to talk, I am here. I care about this and we need to talk about it. And if you feel like you can talk in the comments, I encourage you to. Everyone can benefit from a public conversation.
